2018 Year-End Rundown: Zoom’s Annual Progress

2018 Year-End Rundown: Zoom’s Annual Progress

This blog post was updated on March 3, 2019 to reflect the name change of Zoom Voice to Zoom Phone.

We hope you are having wonderful holidays and are gearing up to face the new year head on. Here at Zoom, 2018 was quite eventful, so let’s wrap it up with a bow by looking back at some highlights of the past year together.

First, a thank you to our customers, partners, and investors for all the support you’ve given us. Zoom wouldn’t be where it is today without your support and trust in us. Throughout 2019 we will stay focused on our main goal: delivering happiness to all of you.

Top of our list is the new products and enhancements that have helped propel Zoom into a one-of-a-kind, video-first unified communications platform. Some highlights include:

  • We announced Zoom Phone, a cloud phone system with support for inbound and outbound calling through the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and seamlessly integrated traditional telephony features. With Zoom Phone, customers can consolidate all of their business communication and collaboration requirements into their favorite video service. This service will be generally available for North American customers in the first quarter of 2019.
  • We also debuted the Zoom App Marketplace, which enhances our platform with numerous integrations with popular apps, such as Google Calendar, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Slack, Hubspot, and more.
  • Finally, we created a host of new features for Zoom Rooms, our ultra modern conference room solution that can also be customized for any space from executive offices to world-class training rooms. New features in 2018 include Multi-Share (multiple users can share their content at the same time in a Zoom Room), Zoom Audio Processing (each microphone’s audio stream is received individually and mixed in real-time), and the ability to start a Zoom Rooms meeting from your mobile device. Early in the year we also introduced a Zoom Technology Ecosystem Program and a Zoom Certified Integrator Program to help us expand the Zoom Rooms ecosystem and enterprise use cases.

The Zoomtopia 2018 celebration was another highlight this year. We were honored to host many bright minds, including Stephen M.R. Covey, Jeff Weiner, and Serena Williams. Our guests from education, healthcare, finance, and other industries enjoyed informative breakout sessions customized for them. Macklemore closed the conference with his energizing performance.

Here at Zoom, we are humbled to be recognized by leading industry analysts and others in 2018. Some of our prominent achievements include receiving Frost & Sullivan’s Global Video Conferencing Company of the Year Award for excellence in growth and innovation, leading in the 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Meeting Solutions report, as well as ranking third on the Forbes 2018 Cloud 100 and second on the Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards honoring the Best Places to Work. Our founder and CEO, Eric S. Yuan, also received some major accolades, including the #1 spot on Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards honoring the Top CEOs in 2018 and being named Entrepreneur of the Year® by Ernst & Young.
