Elevate Messaging & Safety with Zoom Phone SMS, Reporting & E911 Enhancements

Here’s a roundup of the latest updates to Zoom Phone’s SMS/MMS, dashboard, and E911 capabilities:
Consolidate your business-related SMS on the Zoom Phone platform. Zoom Phone Metered, Unlimited, or Pro Plan users can send and receive SMS with any U.S. or Canadian telephone number domestically. You’ll also gain security and granular controls around company messaging as well as holistic usage and charge reporting.
Ensure your customers always reach a live person. New functionality has been added to provide users additional navigation during the voicemail greeting, allowing callers to be redirected to the operator with advanced routing options.
Digital Signage alerting for Nomadic E911
Zoom Phone 911 calls alert an internal safety team via chat, voice call, and email while simultaneously contacting emergency dispatchers. In the chat alert, the safety team can trigger Zoom Rooms Digital Signage to help emergency responders locate the person needing help.
Think of Bootstrap Mode as crowdsourcing location data, so you can rapidly build and maintain the grid of detectable locations being used for your Nomadic E911. Once enabled, users can report their location and add the network data to the company’s emergency services location database. If the location changes, users will be prompted to confirm their emergency address by selecting an existing location or by adding a new one.
Access an up-to-date map of emergency location data with our enhanced Location Tracking dashboard. You’ll see how many of your users have location tracking enabled, have defined a personal address or location, and are currently in a known location. You also can audit location accuracy to improve the data and enhance visibility and safety among your teams.
Reporting and administrator controls
Zoom Phone admins now have reporting metrics for call recordings, including the number of recordings, the number of minutes, and the amount of storage capacity used. You can also set a threshold and get alerted when capacity nears that number.
Cost center addition
We’ve added a tracking field in the dashboard to associate a user to a specific cost center. This provides an easy way to sort chargebacks for customers who need to categorize charges or need to separate charges by project or case code, such as professional services firms and law firms.
For admins who need site-level control for policies such as international calling and where recordings for Zoom Phone and meetings are stored, this capability has been added.
