Your Next Generation Conference Room
June 5, 2013 by Blast Media

BoardroomSetting up a conference room? Zoom can help! In partnership with Ben Olijnyk at Carnegie Mellon University Australia, we’ve developed a guide for creating a new conference room. Whether your space is a small meeting room, a medium-sized boardroom, or a large conference room or classroom, this guide offers simple steps you can do to improve the visuals and acoustics in your conference room, as well as specific recommendations for equipment and set-up depending on your room size and needs.

Some of our favorite tips:

  • Flat surfaces reflect sound. Hard floors, doors and walls can distort your voice. Some easy remedies: lay carpet, hang curtains, and install a soft pin-up board or portable office partition in the room.
  • Bright backlighting makes it hard to see the speaker. Reduce the lights near the speaker and the presentation screen and consider changing the wall colors to a neutral or soft gray tone.
  • Position your cameras at eye level for better eye contact.
  • Two screens are better than one. Dual screens enable you to display the speaker on the smaller screen and their presentation on the larger screen at the same time.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to watch the quick video that summarizes the room set-up guide. It tells you everything you need to know in just 1 minute! With our help, you will create a fantastic next generation conference room that will impress everyone – your boss, your board, and your customers.
