Wainhouse Research Evaluates Zoom
November 17, 2015 by Priscilla Barolo

wainhouse logoThis is the Zoom blog. As such, we admit, we’re a little biased. We love Zoom and we want the world to know it! So we were glad when a non-biased source – Wainhouse Research  – gave Zoom Video Conferencing and Zoom Rooms a thorough evaluation. We knew we could stand the close scrutiny! We encourage you to check out the complete evaluation. Overall, the review was very positive, with Wainhouse Research noting, “Mostly we like the fact that Zoom calls always work — no matter what. From the office. From home. From the hotel. From the airport. From the coffee shop. Despite our best efforts, it was hard to break Zoom…While nothing is perfect, Zoom is not that far off.”

Here are a few highlights:

  • Client-Based Application: “Thanks, at least in part, to the use of a dedicated app, Zoom meetings work every time. The same cannot be said for Browser-based calling – at least not today.”
• Collaboration: “Zoom offers a range of collaboration and content sharing options, some unique to Zoom and others not commonly found in video calling services. For example, the Zoom apps support presence and instant messaging between Zoom users.”
  • Content Sharing: “Zoom’s content sharing capabilities are also quite strong. Specifically, the system allows users to share their desktops, a single app, or content on any AirPlay-capable device (e.g. iPhone, iPad, or Mac PC). As far as we know, AirPlay server support within a video calling client is a Zoom-only capability at this time, and it works extremely well.”
  • Zoom Rooms: Our software-defined video conference room system. “WR conducted a wide range of test calls using Zoom Rooms, and the system performed extremely well.”
  • Zoom Meeting Connector: Allows a customer to run their meetings over their local servers instead of the Zoom cloud. It “offers several key benefits including: Enhanced user experience…Reduced network cost… Enhanced security…In our humble view, Zoom went above and beyond with its hybrid approach.”
